Our 2024 Petite Sirah grapes are sourced from the Smith Family Vineyards in the Temecula valley. A small single acre family vineyard, hand farmed by Matt and his father Ron Smith. Due its small size, South West facing rows, Deficit watering strategies and a zero sythetic fertilizer or pesticide tolerence, the vineyard produces small, inky, clean berries bursting with full fruit flavors and dark purple color. Known for its natural tannin structure, Petite Sirah makes big wines that most wine makers tame through blending, we take the opposite approach, making a single varietal wine, utilizing long extraction times and then dropping it into New American Oak for 1-2 years dependent on intensity.
Tasting Notes: Intense dark fruit flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and black plum with vibrant notes of black pepper and licorice. The influence of American oak brings warm, toasty characteristics of vanilla, caramel, and hints of coconut, which add depth and a smooth, creamy texture. Perfectly suited for pairing with hearty dishes like braised short ribs, barbecue, or aged cheeses.
